Active Schmorl's node (MR).

PROTOCOL:       T1W & T2W - Sagittal & Axial scans

FINDINGS:

-There is normal lumbar lordotic curvature.

-The lower end plate of L3 vertebral body shows evidence of a small cystic lesion continuous with the adjacent disc measuring about 10 x 11 mm in diameters and surrounded by a dense well defined sclerotic margin;  picture is suggestive of active Schmorl’s node.
-The intervertebral disc L3-4 shows abnormal height and abnormal hyper intense signal on T2W scans.

No focal protrusion or diffuse disc bulge is noted.

-Spinal canal dimensions are adequate.
-Facet joints and ligamentum flava show normal signal intensity.
-Thecal sac, conus and cauda equina are normal in appearance.
-Paravertebral muscles show normal MR morphology and signal intensity.
