PROTOCOL: T1W & T2W - Sagittal & Axial scans
FINDINGS:
-There is normal lumbar
lordotic curvature.
-Vertebrae under view show
normal MR morphology. Vertebral bodies show normal height, alignment and signal
intensities.
-Lumbar spondylosis.
The intervertebral disc
show abnormal hyper intense signal on T2W scans.
L4-5: Diffuse disc
bulge / osteophyte complex causing mild thecal indnetation and bilateral mild
to moderate foraminal encroachment.
L5-S1: Diffuse disc
bulge causing mainly indnetation of both traversing nerve roots.
No other significant
focal protrusion or diffuse disc bulge is noted.
-Evidence of an extra
dural cyst is noted related to the right facet joint of L4-5 causing indentation
of the theca; picture is suggestive of synovial cyst (9.4 mm) for clinical
correlation.
-Right L5-S1 facet
joint arthropathy.
-Spinal canal dimensions are
adequate.
-The rest if the facet
joints and ligamentum flava show normal signal intensity.
-Thecal sac, conus and
cauda equina are normal in appearance.
-Paravertebral muscles
show normal MR morphology and signal intensity.
IMPRESSION
·
Degenerative disc disease with disc lesion.
·
Right L4-5 synovial cyst indentating the right side of
the theca and resulting in encroachment upon the right neural foramen for
clinical correlation.
·
Lumbar spondylosis.
