Avascular necrosis of Talus bone (MR).

PROTOCOL:
Sagittal T1W, T2W & PDFS images
Coronal T2W & STIR images
Axial T1W & PDFS images

FINDINGS:

-Posterior compartment:
Evidence of faint intermediate signal is noted in the tendon Achilles; suggestive of mild tendonitis.

-Lateral compartment:
Normal morphology of peroneus longus and brevis tendons.
Normal morphology of anterior and posterior Tibio-fibular ligaments.
Normal morphology of the anterior and posterior Talo-fibular ligament.

-Medial compartment:
Normal morphology of muscles.
Normal medial collateral ligament.

-Anterior compartment:
Normal morphology of the muscles.

-The dome of the Talus bone shows bone marrow edema with line separating between normal bones and affected one.
-The rest of the left ankle joint shows normal bony alignment.
-The lower ends of tibia and fibula, calcaneum and visualized small bones of the foot show normal outline and signal intensity. No focal area of altered signal intensity is noted in the bones under view.

OPINION:

On the light of the findings mentioned above; picture is suggestive of avascular necrosis affecting dome of the Talus bone for clinical correlation.

  • No given history for trauma.
  • Mild Achilles tendonitis.
