Lumbar disc herniation (MR).

PROTOCOL:   T1W & T2W - Sagittal & Axial scans

FINDINGS:

-There is normal lumbar lordotic curvature.
-Vertebrae under view show normal MR morphology. Vertebral bodies show normal height, alignment and signal intensities.

-The intervertebral disc L5-S1 shows abnormal height and abnormal hyperintense signal on T2W scans.
L5-S1: Left para central disc herniation with caudal migration causing moderate to severe indentation of the theca on top of diffuse disc bulge resulting in left severe and right mild to moderate foraminal encroachment.
No other significant focal protrusion or diffuse disc bulge is noted.

-Spinal canal dimensions are adequate.
-Facet joints and ligamentum flava show normal signal intensity.
-Thecal sac, conus and cauda equina are normal in appearance.
-Paravertebral muscles show normal MR morphology and signal intensity.
