Temporal lobe arachnoid cyst (MR):

PROTOCOL:

T1W – Sagittal & axial scans
T2W – Coronal & Axial scans
FLAIR – Axial & sagittal scans

FINDINGS:

-Evidence of a cystic structure is seen in the left temporal region measuring about 5x4x3.5 cm in diameters and resulting in loss of volume of the left temporal lobe. This lesion shows hypo intense MR signal on T1, FLAIR and diffusion weighted images while it shows hyper intense signal on T2 images; picture is suggestive of left temporal arachnoid cyst.
-The rest of the brain Parenchyma shows normal grey white matter differentiation and signal intensities.  No focal mass lesion is seen.
-Lateral and third ventricles are normal in size and position. Septum is in midline.  There is no midline shift.
-Basal cisterns, cortical sulci and gyri are normal in appearance.
-Sella is normal in appearance.
-Corpus callosum shows normal MR morphology.
-Brain stem and cerebellum show normal signal intensities.
-Fourth ventricle is normal in size and is midline in position.

OPINION:
Left temporal arachnoid cyst.
