Small vessel disease.



Plain MDCT scans were obtained for the entire brain.


  • Multiple scattered tiny hypodense areas are seen at both basal ganglia regions.

  • Diffuse bilateral periventricular and white matter hypodensities.

  • There is no evidence of fresh intracranial haemorrhage or midline shift.

  • Both lateral ventricles and third ventricle are prominent in size. 

  • Cortical gyri, sulci and basal cisterns are unremarkable. 

  • The rest of the posterior fossa structures including brainstem and fourth ventricle are normal.


IMPRESSION: 


  • Suggested small vessel disease and few lacunar infarcts.
