Tuberous sclerosis and giant cell astrocytoma (MR).

PROTOCOL:

T2W – Sagittal & axial scans
T1W – Axial scans
FLAIR – Coronal scans
T2FFE (Gradient) – Axial scans

FINDINGS:

-Revealed:
·        Multiple sub ependymal nodules in both lateral ventricle walls.
·        A big focal lesion in the region of foramen of Monroe with 33 x 28 mm diameters. This focal lesion characterized by hypo intensity on T1 and hyper intensity on T2 and Flair images. It causes mild dilatation of the right lateral ventricle with mild compression effect on the left one.
·        Diffuse homogeneous enhancement after contrast injection.
·        At least two cortical lesion of altered signal in the both frontal regions with the same signal characteristic.

OPINION:

·        A case of tuberous sclerosis with evidence of giant cell astrocytoma tumor in the region of foramen of Monroe resulting in mild right ventricular dilatation.
