Spondylo-discitis (MR).

PROTOCOL:   T1W & T2W - Sagittal & Axial scans

FINDINGS& IMPRESSION:

-A case of Spondylo-discitis revealed:
Affection of L2 and L1 vertebral bodies with severe collapse of the former.
Minimal inflammatory changes in the D12 vertebral body for clinical correlation.
Irregularity of the lower end plate of L1 vertebral body.
Retropulsion of inflammatory reaction at the level of L1-2 disc causing severe compression of cauda at that level with enhanced margins (abscess formation).
Anterior extension of the abscess at the level of L1-2.
Right para vertebral abscess with multiple loculation and marginal enhancement with measurement of about 110 x 43 mm diameters.
Left para vertebral abscess with multiple loculation and marginal enhancement with measurements of 120 x 31 mm in diameters.
Both para vertebral abscesses mentioned above are extended from L1to L5 vertebral bodies.
L5-S1: Central disc protrusion / degenerative disc disease complex causing moderate thecal indentation and bilateral moderate foraminal encroachment.
Mild scoliotic deformity of lumbar spine with convexity toward the left side of patient.
The rest of the vertebral bodies and intervertebral discs show normal MR morphology.
