Hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy (MR).

PROTOCOL:
T2W  - Axial scans
T1W - Axial & Sagittal  scans
FLAIR - coronal scans
3D SPGR – Axial scans

FINDINGS:

-On T1 images; there is evidence of multiple gyral hyper intensities especially seen in both parietal cortices and almost in the other areas of the brain. These intensities proved to be not hemorrhage on Gradient images; giving impression of cortical necrosis.
-Diffuse hypo intensity of the white matter is noted on T1 images while it is hyper intense on T2; suggestive of white matter damage.
-Increased intensity of posterior limb of internal capsule bilaterally.

-No obvious focal lesion is seen.
Third and lateral ventricles are normal in size and position.
-Septum is in midline.
-Brain stem and cerebellum are normal in appearance and signal intensities.
-Fourth ventricle is normal in position and size.

IMPRESSION:

On the light of the above mentioned MR signs; picture is suggestive of hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy for clinical correlation.
