Rotator Interval Tear (MR).

Imaging Protocol:

The following imaging pulse sequences were performed for the shoulder joint in a high field MR magnet.
Proton Density fat saturated images in the coronal, sagittal and axial planes.
Coronal T2 weighted images and sagittal T1 weighted images.

Findings:

Revealed:

-Osteoarthritis of acromion clavicular joint.
-A small cystic structure in the neck of the humerus of about 5.8 mm in diameter.
-Degeneration of the tendon of supra spinatous muscle.
-Sub coracoid fluid collection and also fluid collection in the rotator interval.
-Mild fluid collection around tendon of long head of Biceps.

-The Bones alignment and marrow signal: Normal.
-The Muscles surrounding the shoulder joint. Normal.
-The ligaments and other soft tissues: Normal.

Impression:

Acromio-clavicular joint osteoarthritis.
Degeneration of supra spinatous tendon.
Evidence of fluid collection in the sub coracoid bursa suggestive of coracoid bursitis. Coracoid bursitis is present in rotator cuff tear and rotator interval tear; in absence of the former in this case; our diagnosis should be the latter.
