Hepatic Encephalopathy (MR).

PROTOCOL:

T1W – Sagittal & axial scans
T2W – Axial & coronal scans
FLAIR – Axial scans

FINDINGS& IMPRESSION:

-Revealed:
Bilateral basal ganglia hyper intensities T1& T2& Flair sequences (due to hepatic encephalopathy) with abnormal enhancement.
Bilateral gyriform hyper intensity areas (cortical laminar necrosis) with definite abnormal enhancement after contrast injection.
Bilateral hyper intense deep white matter signal foci in the vertex of the brain (due to ischemic changes).
Smooth halo of peri ventricular hyper intensity ischemic changes.
Diffuse increased intensity of the white matter of mid brain in between red nucleus and cerebellar peduncle bilaterally.
Right maxillary and left posterior ethmoid sinusitis.

-Corpus callosum shows normal MR morphology.
-Brain stem and cerebellum show normal signal intensities.
-Fourth ventricle is normal in size and is midline in position.
