Necrotic Pancreatitis (CT).



Clinical impression: grading of pancreatitis

MDCT of the abdomen and pelvis was performed before and after intravenous contrast administration. The bowel was labeled with oral contrast.


  • The pancreas is enlarged in size with non enhancing large area of necrosis seen at its body, involving more than 50% of its volume, moderate amount of peri-pancreatic fluid and fat strandings extending to both Gerotta fascias and pelvic region.
  • The liver is normal is size. It shows normal texture. No evidence of any focal or diffuse lesion is seen 
  • The gall bladder and biliary tree are unremarkable.
  • Portal vein is normal.
  • The spleen adrenals are normal.
  • The kidneys are normal in size. No evidence of any focal mass lesions. No evidence of dilatation of collecting systems. No evidence of calculi.
  • The urinary bladder is well distended and shows no obvious mass lesion in it. 
  • The bowel loops are normal in caliber, location and show normal wall thickness.
  • Mild ascitis is seen.



IMPRESSION: 

Severe degree of pancreatitis with pancreatic necrosis more than 50% with severity index 10 points.
