Bertolotti's syndrome type II B Castellvi classification (MR).



PROTOCOL:   T1W & T2W - Sagittal & Axial scans

FINDINGS:


-There is normal lumbar lordotic curvature.

-Pseudo articulation of both sides of transverse processes of L5 and the sacral ala (Castellvi classification system Type II B); suggestive of Bertolotti’s syndrome.

-Vertebrae under view show normal MR morphology. Vertebral bodies show normal height, alignment and signal intensities.

-The intervertebral disc show normal height and normal hyperintense signal on T2W scans. No focal protrusion or diffuse disc bulge is noted.

-Spinal canal dimensions are adequate.
-Facet joints and ligamentum flava show normal signal intensity.
-Thecal sac, conus and cauda equina are normal in appearance.
-Paravertebral muscles show normal MR morphology and signal intensity.


IMPRESSION

Bertolotti’s syndrome type II B Castellvi classification.
